My 2019 4Motion Sportwagen oil temperature would get up to 214 degrees when under load (summer temperatures, accelerating uphill). I just had a 20K service and oil change, and the oil temperature reached 225 degrees on a mild day. The owner's manual says nothing about the acceptable temperature range.

Questions:
1) What is a "healthy" oil temperature for the 1.8L TSI engine?
2) Is there a reason the oil temperature increased after to oil change?

My oil temperature usually is above 211, a lot of times it is between 217 and 224, even when it is hot out. I think anything under 240 is OK, not sure why it varies as the water temp is always consistent with a thermostat, but the oil temp seems high on cooler days, and lower on warmer days...so not sure why.

Similar issue here after a service engine temp 221-225 on my way home :/ I immediately turned around back to th dealership & discovered they used 0w30 oil.
Had new oil replaced back to 0w20 as has always been ran before & engine temperature was immediately back to 211-215.
Just my experience

20 degrees above coolant temperature is fine. Having the oil temperature above 212 is good, you are heating all the condensed water out of the oil. Oil should run about 220. Ambient temperature will affect oil temperature. I would not be concerned until oil temp gets to 240 or more. To the person who runs 0w20 remember a turbo is hard on oil unless you live in northern Canada, you should be changing at 5000 miles, the heat from the turbo will destroy that oil quicker. I like to see my 17 Alltrack between 212 and 225. If you use your turbo more the oil temp will be higher. There is a reason in this case why VW says 3w30 or 0w40 synthetic in these engines.

I never check my oil temp so I can't comment on temp but I don't exactly know why some of you are running 0W30 or 0W20 wt oil, I've always ran Liqui Moly 5W40 I live in the NW I also change my oil every 5Kmi.
I agree with d smoker though about oil temp.
